Notes
As I returned from 4+ days away from Milford, I noticed an abundance of weeds growing in my yet to be garden and around the house in the flower beds.  I can truly say that I do not like them.  Who does?  What are weeds anyway?  Are they plants that are in the wrong place?  Or are they plants with objectionable or harmful habits?  I think of weeds as having aggressive tendencies, living where I would like to see good plants grow.  Weeds remind me of sin.  Like the week, sin also ha aggressive tendencies, sometimes appearing in our lives.  Some weeds grow and reproduce quickly.  I hated the mustard plant when I was young.  It can bear over 500,000 seeds in one short summer.  It is also difficult to cut down.  Sin can be like that like that also.  One can lead to many more.  Have you ever wanted to get rid of a weed?  Have you ever desired to have a sin go away?  Jesus Christ gave His life to remove sin from the world.  Jesus can take all the sin out of your life.  During this Easter season, let us be thankful for the Gospel message about the grace we have through Jesus.

Classroom information
Mrs. Schulte (Pre-2)
This week we enjoyed "Beautiful Rainbows". We did all kinds of activities around this theme; played in our rainbow floral shop, sorted pom poms in colored rainbow tubes, and strung rainbow noodle beads.  We shared the book "Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister.  During Bible Time we shared the story of "Jesus Returns to Heaven".  In Art we worked on our bubble letters T and U by making them into Trees and Umbrellas.  We ended the day celebrating our class winning the Box Top Challenge with a yummy ice cream social!
Mrs. Frey (Pre-3,4)
Preschool is learning letter L for life cycles. 3’s will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and frog. They will create life cycles using different pasta shapes. 4’s will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly, frog, and chicken. They will create frog puppets and chick art using a fork. Both classes will learn about Jesus’ ascension to heaven and the Great Commission. We can follow His command to make disciples and remember his promise: “I am with you to the very end of the age.”
Mrs. Reynolds (PK)
This week Pre-K is learning about the letter I and insects! We will be learning what the characteristics of insects are, and the life cycle of a butterfly. We will be looking at a few Eric Carle classics like "The Grouchy Ladybug" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". We will be practicing adding numbers and beginning a lesson on coins and their values. We will also practice writing sentences using our sight words that we have been learning throughout the year. In Bible we are continuing to talk about the Resurrection and what that means for all of us. We are going to have a busy and fun week in Pre-K.
Mrs. Sherman (K)
Kindergarten will finish their study of plants as they observe plant experiments and create a garden in a glove.  They will begin learning about recycling and ways to care for the earth.  During math time, the class will review telling time, write number stories and identify, sort, graph and eat (yum!) 2-D and 3-D shapes.  At Bible time, they will hear about Thomas.  He had a difficult time believing that Jesus was alive until he saw and touched Jesus. Through faith, given by the Holy Spirit, we believe that Jesus is the living God.  The full day students will complete their life at the pond unit as they create a pond mural.  They will also make an art project from recycled items.  During math, they will make a frog eating sets of flies to make 10, tell time as they go on a clock search and play "One More."
Mrs. Reisenbichler (1-2)
This week in Jesus Time we continued our study of the miracles of Jesus.  In math, the second graders worked with area, and the first graders worked on double digit addition.  In science, the children built and tested their birds nests.  Successful teams constructed nests that held together for thirty seconds, held three chicken eggs, and a toy bird.  In language arts, the first graders started a unit on Native Americans.
Mrs. Mayo (3-4)
In religion, we continued learning about David's sin with Bathsheba and then went on to learn about Solomon building the temple.  In reading, we are learning about a hammock ecosystem by reading The Missing 'Gator of Gumbo Limbo.  In social studies we learned about Ohio's economy and did some map work.  In science we learned about cell development in plant and animal cells.  In math, the 3rd graders learned lattice multiplication and the 4th graders finished finding the area of various polygons and took a chapter test.  In Spanish, we wrote descriptions of some of our family members.
Mr. Postenrieder (5-6)
In our Bible time this week we looked at absolution and the liturgical order of worship in our services. In 5th grade math we worked with the volume and capacity of rectangles and triangles. We also enjoyed our Unit 9 test. In 6th grade math we took our 16th test. We also worked with the area of circles, solving ratios using proportions, and estimated square roots. In our Language Arts time we continued writing a story about the life of a gumball. We also began reading the next story in our textbooks. Through this story we will work on character and theme as well as continue to build our vocabulary. In Social Studies we looked at the countries of Southwestern Asia. In Science we continued our study of plate tectonics focusing on faults. In Spelling we studied the Greek roots: graph, meter, phon, photo, and tele.
Mr. Mayo (7,8)
We began learning about the Spanish American War this week!  The students were surprised at how The U.S. could be seen as the bully in that conflict.  Taking the Philippians was a masterstroke.  It paid off handsomely.  In Literature, we’re studying the effects of television on the American family.  We had quite a discussion about whether television brings families together or drives them apart.
Mr. Reisenbichler (7-8)
In religion we will continue our study of Easter.  In 7th grade math the students are studying angles, the distributive property, and similar triangles.   In 8th grade math we are adding radical expressions and writing recursive formulas.  In science we are learning about the periodic table.  The students are building bridges in STEM.
