Thoughts
My sister’s family was featured on a recent 20/20 television on Friday, March 25.  If you have Time Warner, you can access it on Primetime on Demand (channel 401).  My sister, Sue, and her seven children were imprisoned in a New York apartment by her husband.  This is an update from its first showing last June.  It is also a short summary of the movie that was created to show their story – The Wolfpack.  I am not in any of the 20/20 scenes, but I was in several of the scenes without visibility.

Classroom information
Mrs. Frey (P-3 & P-4)
Preschool is learning letter L for life cycles. 3’s will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and frog. They will create life cycles using different pasta shapes. 4’s will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly, frog, and chicken. They will create frog puppets and chick art using a fork. Both classes will learn about Jesus’ ascension to heaven and the Great Commission. We can follow His command to make disciples and remember his promise: “I am with you to the very end of the age.”
Mrs. Reynolds (PK & P-2)
This week Pre-K is learning the letter O as we talk about ovals. We are also looking into gardening this week. We have planted carrots, onion, and radishes in our root view farm and are diligently watching them grow. We will be discussing the parts of a plant and how it grows. We also have real caterpillars in our classroom we will be keeping an eye on for the next few weeks. I cannot wait to watch them turn into butterflies! Pre-K has a field trip this Wednesday to the Cincinnati Nature center as well which we are all looking forward to! In Bible we are looking at the apostles and what they did to help spread the word about Jesus and His sacrifice for us.  Pre-2 is also looking into plants and gardening this week! We will also check out the plants growing in the classroom and the caterpillars and discuss how they grow and transform. We will be reading "The Tiny seed" by Eric Carle and making flowers for our V- shaped vase as we learn the letter V this week. In Bible we will look at the story of Jesus appearing to his disciples after He resurrected.
Mrs. Sherman (K)
Kindergarten's caterpillars arrived last week. The caterpillars have almost tripled in size and this week, they should form their chrysalises.  The class will finish their study of living things as they label parts of a plant, create a garden in a glove and show the life cycle of a butterfly.   During Bible time, they will hear of Thomas who had to see and touch Jesus before he could believe that Jesus was alive. The boys and girls will learn that it is through faith that we see Jesus in God’s Word and sacraments.  At reading time, Kindergarten will read about how animals' colors help them survive.  In math, they will write double digit numbers and time to the hour.  In the afternoon, the students will continue their study of pond life.  They will create a pond mural and research an animal that lives at the pond.
Mrs. Reisenbichler (1)
We continue to learn about the resurrection.  This week we listened in on the conversation between Jesus and the followers on the road to Emmaus.  In math, we had more fraction fun and worked with adding two digit numbers.  Our Native American unit is going well.  This week we learn about the Northwest Coastal tribes.  The children learned to draw alligators, turtles, and frogs in science before learning about lizards.  Last week the children completed the STAR test.  It confirmed what I knew.  I have a class of awesome readers.
Miss Rhonemus (2)
The whole is buzzing with preparations for the Spring Musical which will take place on April 29th.  This week the second graders have been reading Where do Polar Bears Live?  The students have been completing a field journal by using the description of polar bear in the book.  In science we are seeing which seeds will sprout first and which ones will grow the most after 3 weeks.  The seeds that we are testing are Zinnias, sun flowers, pumpkins, and beans.  In social studies we are learning about goods and services.  Seventh and eighth graders are learning about Newton's Laws of Motion.
Mrs. Mayo (3-4)
In religion we studied the ascension of Jesus into heaven.  We finished the book, Snow Treasure, in reading.  In social studies we learned about Arizona and did some map work on the southwestern states.  We learned about animal traits in science.  In math the 3rd graders explored arrays, areas, and fractions and also practiced different ways to multiply.  The 4th graders finished working with area in geometric shapes and geographical areas and then took a chapter test.
Mr. Postenrieder (5-6)
In our Bible time this week David’s life was the focus of our study. In 5th grade math we worked with the area and circumference of circles. We also took our Unit 10 test.  In 6th grade math we took our 17th test. We also worked with experimental probability, geometric formulas, order of operations, and classifying triangles. In our Language Arts time we continued reading Which Way Freedom? In Social Studies we prepared and presented power points on the islands of the Caribbean. In Science we completed our study of biomes and aquatic ecosystems. We continued to monitor our bluebird houses.
Mr. Mayo (7,8)
In history, we’re learning of the events leading up to and including the War of 1812.  We’re reading poetry about growing up.  It’s nice to know others have felt as the students now feel.  I don’t understand how teens who don’t believe in the saving power of Jesus can be at ease… EVER.
Mr. Reisenbichler (7-8)
In religion we are discussing living with suffering.  In 7th grade math the students are translating expressions into equations and then solving them.  In 8th grade math, we are calculating compound interest constructing line plots.  The students are constructing a key ring using a CAD program on the computer and them printing it on a 3D printer in STEM.
