Classroom information
Mrs. Frey (P-3 & P-4)
Preschool is learning
about life on the farm this week! 3’s will create handprint rooster art and
muddy pigs. 4’s will create horse art and bubble print sheep art. In Bible Time
3’s will learn about Timothy and his mother and grandmother, and 4’s will learn
about Paul’s change. The Holy Spirit makes your life new!
Mrs.
Reynolds (PK & P-2)
This week Pre-K is reviewing all the letters
of the alphabet and their sounds. We are finishing up final assessments and
practicing a few songs for our end of the year party on the 24th. In Bible we
are learning about Lydia and how she shared her faith with her family and
friends. We are all looking forward to bike day next week! Pre-2 is finishing up all of our alphabet art
this week by completing all of our make-up letters that students missed being
absent. We are also talking about going to the beach. We will play with kinetic
sand and look at some sea shells. In Bible we are learning about Phillip.
Mrs.
Sherman (K)
Kindergarten
will finish their hike through the rain forest. They will create a red
eyed tree frog and complete a graphic organizer of rainforest facts.
During math, they will graph and add rainforest animals. At Bible time,
the class will hear of Philip and the Ethiopian. Like Philip, they can
share the Gospel with others. The full day students will taste fruits
that grow in the rainforest, make a "Who Am I?" book of animals and
create puppets to retell The Umbrella.
Mrs.
Reisenbichler (1)
This week in Jesus Time, we learned
about the raising of Lazarus. In math, we continued our end of year
review working with money and shapes. Our science based books are really
coming along nicely. I hope most children complete their stories this
week. Plants are the topic in science this week. Our Studies Weekly
was about goods and services.
Ms. Rhonemus (2)
This week the second graders are
reading some folk tales as well as learning about weaving. After reading
about how rugs and baskets are made we practiced some weaving of our own.
In Math we are expanding our knowledge of money and place value as well
as diving into some multiplication. In science we are learning about
forces and continuing to observe our tadpoles. We currently have one
little guy with back legs. For social studies we are taking a look at
some of the Roosevelts. In seventh and eighth grade we are learning about
power, work, and the mechanical advantage of machines.
Mrs. Mayo (3-4)
We're going
to try to fit a lot in during the next few weeks! We can't believe the
year is almost over. In religion we studied the account of how Paul's
nephew overhears a plot to kill Paul and how his actions save Paul's life. We
began the book Ralph S. Mouse and are working on answering questions
with complete sentences. We learned about 3 states this week in social studies:
California, Oregon, and Washington. We also worked on our map
skills. In science we continued to learn how to keep our bodies healthy
by exercising. In math both grades finished up a chapter and ended the
week with tests. The 3rd grade took a test on multiplying by larger
numbers and the 4th grade had a test on multiplying and dividing decimals.
Mr. Postenrieder (5-6)
In
our Bible time this week we studied Elijah and did some experiments to
illustrate Biblical truth through science. In 5th grade math we took
our Unit 11 test. We also worked with ratios
and probability. In 6th grade math we enjoyed our 19th
test. We also worked with ratio, perimeter, mass and weight. In our Language
Arts time we wrote a narrative paper on a life experience. In Social Studies
the kids presented their power points on South America. In Science we continued
our look at “Living Resources.” We
continued to monitor our bluebird houses. We also planted flowers in the large
flower bed. We finished our spelling for the year by studying words that ended
in –ant, -ent, -ance, -ence.
Mr. Mayo (7,8)
We are
awaiting our trip, with Mr. Reisenbichler, which will take place May 15,16,17,
and 18. That should be a wonderful culmination to our year. We’ve finished our
last unit of History, which dealt with the Missouri Compromise, and the “Era of
Good Feelings”. It seems it would be great to have such an era NOW! Throughout
our study of U.S. History, we are struck by God’s goodness to our country.
Mr. Reisenbichler (7-8)
In religion we are discussing addictions.
In 7th grade math the students
are working with scale factor and dividing scientific notation numbers. In 8th grade math, the class is graphing
parabolas and calculating the volume of spheres. The students are constructing a key ring
using a CAD program on the computer and them printing it on a 3D printer in STEM.
